Great Granny feeding her chickens..
I must get it from her !
I'm pleased with this using some of the vintage French fabric
from a frayed cushion I have.
Ruby's feather is a glorious colour too.
Great Granny was by all accounts
a wonderful woman -
a teacher and wife to a gambling man
he lost the value of the house three times over I'm told !
Mum loved her dearly and she came to live
with mum & her parents
towards the end of her life.
She'll always be my " Great Granny "
and even though I never met her -
I feel we are kindred spirits

A slice of heart cake anyone ? !

the last of my hearts...

I'm going to string them into bunting and put them up on Sunday .

The top three hearts are my favourites -

the one in the middle has an adorable photograph
of my then very young grand parents.

Did my heart love till now?
Forswear it, sight!
For I ne'er saw true beauty
till this night!

Parting is such sweet sorrow,
that I shall saw goodnight,
till it be morrow!

But soft! What light through
yonder window breaks?
It is the east and Juliet is the sun.

See, how she leans her cheek
upon that hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!

This bud of love,
by summer's ripening breath,
May prove a beautious flower when next we meet.

Love's heralds should be thoughts

O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!

If I profane with my unworthiest hand
This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.

What's in a name?
That which we call a rose
by any other name would smell as sweet.

O, speak again, bright angel!

I have been having a lot fun this week
messing around with bits & bobs.
I'll show you what I've been up to next week !

Meanwhile...

Darling Daughter has been having a great time
stamping on these wine bottle caps for me.

***

I really hated the introduction of plastic " corks "
and screw top caps for wine
but now I'm collecting them !
I've always kept the corks & display them in a printers' box.
I just love the designs on them.
Recently though I've started to soak off wine labels
& keep the screw caps
as they have lovely designs too -
so ofter overlooked

When I was at college,
the Graphic designers had a project
to display a collection of small items -
bottle tops would have been be ideal !
One did lipstick kiss marks on paper
another discarded cigarette butts
and another spat out chewing gum !

It made a fabulous display...
a bit gross -
but all in the name of art !!!
