I CAN'T SEW !!!

I really want to add some stitching to my journal

I've hand sewn in some lace & buttons

but I want to use the machine

& I don't know how !

School needlework lessons were limited to making an apron for ....

school cookery lessons !!!

I then chose woodwork & Metalwork instead.

I was trying to describe the journal to some friends

and made it sound awful !

Feeling incredibly low this week-

It's the heat - I don't like it.

( I coped OK when we lived broad but here

I just get irritable & drained of energy )

so if you find my MOJO -

please can you send it

straight home !

I've been experimenting with the TAP

( Artist Transfer Paper )

my image is from a little statue in the farmhouse

I stayed in

on a retreat in Greece.

It always prints out pink ...

but I love it !

so do I use it as the middle page
or with pages in between ?
I like the way shown above.



I'm not so fond of it printed onto Calico
I prefer it printed straight onto the dyed watercolour pages
of our journals.

I'm really enjoying Kiwi Carole's course...
she keeps accusing us of drinking rum in class
I have NO IDEA where she gets that idea from...

gold leaf

I've been playing with my gold leaf...

& collecting the tiny specs that brush off.

After this picture was taken

I removed some of the gold

using stick tape

then I put that on a piece of paper-

to use for something else !

It's like collecting Gold Dust !

I've also been messing around with

Jewellers' Rouge Powder-

I mixed some in water & dyed some papers.

My brother was a gold polisher for many years...

he used to come home covered in pink dust from the rouge !

The fabric shop in town is closing down

so I bought a few bargain goodies -

the music score stamp was reduced by ten pounds !

I love the floral fabric &

already had a scrap of the sprigged one in a green colourway.

I bought some new thread as a friend is going to teach me

how to use mum's old Singer sewing machine

( haven't touched one since school needlework lessons ! )

The little Santas look quite vintage &

the stencil stickers pretty

Then I went to the art shop

& bought some

GOLD LEAF !!!

FAB.

a dress for June

The background is made from a birthday card

I received from

a good friend...

and the wording on it was about true friendship.

The sash is made from a delicate serviette

my mum wrapped my birthday present in -

so pretty & compliments the dress perfectly

Background, a wedding card I bought for a friend

but gave her a homemade one instead.
