July dress

Miss July
is keeping cool by the river
where the Kingfishers fly.

I bought the lovely paper
at my local craft shop

added lichen,
Clematis seed heads

Florists' cellophane wrap
paper napkin
my favourite stamp
and a touch of stamping ink
to give a mossy colour

When I met
The Balancing Kiwi
we got talking about crochet
( among lots of other things ! )
and she said she had a spare book
which I could have...
It's arrived
Thank you so much.
I have bought some cotton & a hook.....
so here goes....

As you have probably worked out-
I like plain & natural colours.
BUT...
tomorrow I have some friends coming round for supper
and afterwards to do some crafting .
I'm going to get them to alter matchboxes !
So I thought I'd better get one or two colourful bits & bobs in
as some of my friends have quite colourful personalities
(especially after a few glasses of vino !!!)

Will post the results up in a few days -
I'm calling it a
STICK & BICKER PARTY !!!

These are the last few pieces
of vintage French linen
from a cushion
I bought in France several years ago.
I was going to use the lovely fabric
to cover my journal
but have decided not to.
Instead I have been turning
new into old...
with the fabric I bought
when the sewing shop closed....

spot the difference ?

journaling on

I'm feeling a bit better about my fabric journal.
I've been embellishing & stamping...
ink stamping
but a bit of foot stamping going on too !
Next I'm going to add a bit of gold leaf.
***
Now, I'm not a huge fan of sheet music
used in designs but I gave into temptation.
In our village an eccentric coffee shop / wine bar has opened-
there are hundreds of books for sale
& yesterday I looked through a box of sheet music
and liked the lettering on the front page.

What I really loved though
was the type written words inside
and the brown paper cover...
just look at the date !

So I will use some of this in my journal -
I bought this and a Kate Greenaway book
for one pound fifty !!!

The less said about my attempts at machine sewing
the better !!!

I shall stick to glue
and hand stitching
but I did master ...
the French Knot
the other day !
