These lovely little shoes were bought in 1903 for my grandmother Molly. She wouldn't have been walking yet so we think they are soft slippers for crawling around in. They had little buttons to fasten them up but my mother cut them off when she was a child so they would fit her doll. Perhaps I'll find some little buttons to put back but maybe not as I love them as they are.

  1. Also, keep them out of direct sunlight and put acid free tissue paper inside them to keep their shape. Don't stuff them too hard, just so they keep their shape and put them in an acid free box. Southampton museum might be able to help you with suppliers for the tissue and the box.

They are cute... where are your baby shoes?

  2. Thx Griffin. I didn't have shoes as I was barefoot in Singapore ( good title for a book ?) but I have DD's Christening shoes (yes I had her Christened !!!) I dipped them in tea so they would match the silk dress which was mine for my Christening & the shawl which came down the Steel side. People thought I was mad....
