three muses challenge

A bit of a mess I'm afraid my Three Muses Challenge this week.
The theme is - In your dreams.

It went totally wrong. I wanted to use the postcard I have of two young girls looking at a barbed wire clad wartime seafront. I bought it at the Imperial War Museum & my daughter has used it in a school project.

I didn't like what I'd done so tore it out & ended re-sticking it .

It is now supposed to look like an scrapbook picture you might find in an old trunk in a loft.

The girls are dreaming of what it used to be like before the war.

sorry everyone !
yours are so perfect !
I don't know how to do anything digitally
and I don't have collage sheets
so I use what I have
It's a bit dark this week
like how I'm feeling right now !

  1. This has got so much atmosphere to it. Especially as today is Remembrance Day. It's dreams of a time gone past, dreams lost and forgotten. Dreams unfulfilled. Incredibly moody and evocative. You might have guessed by now that I rather like this! Send it back to the Imperial War Museum - would make a great exhibit.

  3. Penny my friend, stop beating yourself up over the digital, get the local college prospectus and book yourself on a short course. You will love it and it might pick you up a little bit. For what it is worth I love it, but then I am not that sort of crafter

  4. Oh, Penny, your collage is absolutely wonderful! It's so touching, it makes me think about many things gone and lost. The words are a perfect add to the collage. Great work!

  8. Penny, your picture is beautiful and I love the wartime photo you have used. You are too hard on yourself. It's special because you found a great use for such a touching and historic photo. And you cheered me up. I love your username "Bad Penny". Do you always turn up (like a bad penny as the saying goes)? It makes me smile. I have a sister-in-law who loves going out so much that she says she will even go to the opening of an envelope and this is probably where she meets all the bad pennies who turn up!!

  17. Well Miss BP you have nothing to be sorry about at all, and this is not dark either, it is a poignant, longing for a time gone by and it is wonderful.

Believe in yourself and your talent.

  18. I found this dream to be rather touching. Sometimes it is a good thing to remind ourselves and our children how good life is now. Perfect for Veteran's Day here in the states.

  19. I just love your concept of finding the photo in an old trunk in the attic. I've always dreamed of a house that has a large attic full of treasures from someone else's past. I think it was a completely romantic idea you had!

As far as digital skills...none of us started out with any, and so many beautiful creations are made without a computer. There are sites that offer free images that you can use to make collages. If you would like to know where to find them, just email me and I'd be glad to help you out.

Chin up, sweetie...your creativity can take many different roads, and they don't have to be the same as anyone else's roads!

  21. Hi Penny,

I think it looks really 'wistful' and dreamy. But I am a bit confused to be honest... what on earth is a three muses challenge?

(Feel a bit like a little girl putting her hand up in class... please miss, I don't understand!!)

  22. I'm always tearful............ I am with the lady who said creativity can take you up many roads.......... and what I like is that if you dont like where it leads you, you can always revisit! Chin up! :O)

  23. Thank you so much for the comment and explanation! It's a whole new world. When I read it I had a look at all the sites you mentioned, got all excited and thought 'yes!' this is the perfect way for me to get a toe in actually creating something... then I realised that this would be madness given how stretched I am for time selling toys in Novemeber (it's getting sooo busy), second job, housework neglected etc etc... but I am going to 'park' the idea and hopefully one day!

    Thank you again,

    Love Charlotte
